A. They are loyal, friendly, affectionate, gentle, quiet, clean, loving, sensitive and good-natured. |

A. Some are and some are not. This should be discussed when making an enquiry so that the right dog
is matched

Q. Are greyhounds highly strung?
A. No. They are naturally calm animals and very relaxed in a home environment. They are often correctly
described as
‘couch potatoes’ - they spend most of the day lazing about. |

Q. Are greyhounds good with children?
A. As good as any dog and better than most, because of their characteristic gentleness. |
Q. Will I need a special bed for the dog?
A. No. An old quilt folded in two is perfect. But they are used to sleeping off the ground and will need no encouragement
to try to take over your bed or settee. They do like to stretch out. |
Q. How much exercise do they need?
A. Toilet considerations apart, very little indeed. Twenty minutes, twice a day is usually more than enough. |

Q. How do greyhounds get on with other dogs?
A. Normally ok. There will be an initial wariness, but familiarity and common sense is the order of the day. |

Q. Is wearing a muzzle obligatory?
A. No but is recommended when you are out and about. They are quite used to it and normally do not mind
wearing one
at all. If you feel you need to let your dog off the lead, a confined space and the wearing of a
muzzle is recommended. |

Q. Do females make better pets?
A. No. Males and females make equally good pets. |
Q. Do greyhounds travel well in cars?
A. Yes very well. They are used to travelling and so travel by car poses no problems. |

Q. What age is the retired greyhound likely to be and what is the life expectancy?
A. Most are between 2 and 5 years of age and some are younger or older. The life expectancy is between
12 to 15 years. |

Q. What is the size of a greyhound?
A. Greyhounds are normally between 24 and 29 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 50 and 80 pounds.
Females are generally smaller than males. |

Q. Are greyhounds expensive to feed?
A. No. They are generally cheaper to feed than most other breeds because tinned foods tend to be too rich.
A bag of a good
complete food can form the basis of a good diet. |

Q. Can you look after the greyhound when we go on holiday?
A.Yes provided there is room in the kennels so please book early. Our charges are far cheaper
than general holiday kennels.
Also the surroundings are familiar to the greyhound which makes
it nicer
for them. |
