Moon's
Story
We got
Moon (Siesta
Moonlight)
in January,
he's now
been living
with us
for 9
months.
And he
is brilliant!
(Well
maybe
not intellectually,
although
we have
managed
to train
him to
walk downstairs,
not come
into the
kitchen
and lie
down on
command).
We
were
very
careful
when
we first
thought
about
getting
a dog
to choose
a breed
that
would
settle
in well
in a
flat
and
with
our
lifestyle.
Although
I come
back
at lunch
time
he is
left
during
the
morning
and
afternoon
whilst
my husband
and
I are
at work.
But
being
a dog
that
is use
to a
kennel
life
and
a strict
routine
of when
he is
allowed
out,
Moon
has
adapted
beautifully.
My
main
concern
when
we got
him
was
that
he might
be a
bit
aloof
- he
didn't
seem
very
interested
in cuddles
in the
kennels.
But
we have
since
discovered
that
that
was
because
he didn't
know
us.
Now
he is
incredibly
affectionate.
We first
realised
how
much
of a
pack
we had
become
when
I was
taking
him
for
a walk
and
my husband
joined
us halfway
through,
Moon
was
ridiculously
over
excited
that
both
of us
were
with
him
and
insisted
on walking
between
us grinning
his
head
off
- yes
dogs
can
grin.
Although
he is
a big
dog,
even
by greyhounds
standards,
he is
very
gentle.
He has
been
crawled
all
over
by toddlers
of our
acquaintance
and
suffers
it without
complaining
or getting
at all
tetchy.
He also
suffers
on a
daily
basis
the
indignity
of being
call
a 'horse'
by the
local
kids!
I have
never
seen
him
snap
or lose
his
patience.
As
I'm
writing
this
he is
in his
favourite
position,
flat
out
on the
rug,
asleep,
of course.
I just
wanted
to write
to thank
Joy
for
her
help
in choosing
him
and
let
her
know
that
he is
a very
content,
well-loved
dog.
